Youth Exchange Program

Since its inception, our Club has hosted students from countries such as the United States, Poland, Germany, Denmark, and France, among others. At the same time, it has provided local youth with the opportunity to live exchange experiences in different parts of the world. Through our Club, the true spirit of the exchange program is put into practice: openness to new ideas and experiences, adaptability, personal and cultural enrichment, and the opportunity to build lasting friendships and discover new ways of life. These are precisely the values that define Rotary.

Under the coordination of its YEO (Youth Exchange Officer), a position currently held by Ms. Mirta Liliana González, our Club carries out a program that inspires young people to become leaders committed to peace and social justice, both in their local communities and globally, long after their exchanges have ended. This program is made possible thanks to the commitment, leadership, and passion of tens of thousands of volunteers—Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike—who make this initiative a truly transformative experience.

What are the benefits?

Exchange students reach their full potential by:

  • Developing lifelong leadership skills
  • Learning a new language and exploring another culture
  • Building lasting friendships with young people around the world
  • Becoming global citizens

How long do exchanges last?

Long-term exchanges last a full academic year, during which participants attend local schools and live with multiple host families.
Short-term exchanges last from several days to three months, typically taking place during school vacations, and can take the form of camps, tours, or homestays.

What is the cost?

Participants receive room and board as well as free school tuition. Costs vary by country, and participants generally cover the following expenses:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Travel insurance
  • Document processing (passports and visas)
  • Spending money for personal expenses, excursions, and tours

How do I apply?

The program is aimed at young people aged 15 to 19 who demonstrate leadership skills in their school and community. You can check online at Youth Exchange Program to learn more about available exchange programs and application procedures.
