YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Since its beginnings, our Club has welcomed students from countries such as the United States, Poland, Germany, Denmark, and France, among others. At the same time, it has offered local youth the opportunity to experience cultural exchanges in different parts of the world. Through our Club, the true spirit of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program is brought to life: openness to new ideas and experiences, adaptability, personal and cultural growth, and the chance to form lasting friendships and discover new ways of life. These are precisely the values that define Rotary.

Under the coordination of our Youth Exchange Officer (YEO) — currently held by Mrs. Mirta Liliana González — our Club leads a program that inspires young people to become leaders committed to peace and social justice, both within their communities and globally, even long after their exchange experience has ended. This program is made possible thanks to the commitment, leadership, and passion of tens of thousands of volunteers — both Rotarians and non-Rotarians — who make this initiative a truly life-changing experience.

What Are the Benefits?

Exchange students unlock their full potential by:

  • Developing lifelong leadership skills
  • Learning a new language and experiencing another culture
  • Forming lasting friendships with young people from around the world
  • Becoming global citizens

How Long Do Exchanges Last?

Long-term exchanges last for one academic year. Participants attend local schools and live with multiple host families.
Short-term exchanges last from a few days up to three months, usually during school vacations, and may take the form of camps, guided tours, or home stays.

What Is the Cost?

Participants receive free room, board, and school attendance. Costs vary by country, but generally include:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Travel insurance
  • Passport and visa processing
  • Spending money for personal expenses, excursions, and activities

How Do I Apply?

The program is open to young people aged 15 to 19 who show leadership potential at school and in their community. Visit our Youth Exchange Program page to learn more about available exchanges and how to apply.
